TREE DATA: The height of the tree is reported to reach about 160 feet (49 m), with trunk diameters ranging from 48 to 72 inches (120 to 200 cm). Straight, cylindrical boles above occasional small buttresses are reported to be clear to heights of about 80 feet (24 m).

COUNTRY: Angola, Benin, Cameroon, Congo, Gabon, Gambia, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Kenya, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Uganda, Zaire, Zimbabwe.

SAPWOOD COLOR: The sapwood is white, and is sharply demarcated from the heartwood.

HEARTWOOD COLOR: The heartwood is light yellow or brown, and darkens with age.

COMMON USES: Boat building, Flooring, Framing, Furniture, Interior trim, Joinery, Stairworks, Turnery, Veneer, Building materials, Stair rails, etc.

MOVEMENT IN SERVICE: Seasoned material is reported to be dimensionally stable, and holds its shape well after manufacture.

WEATHERING: This structural timber has good weathering properties, which allows its use in exterior applications.
